Shapes

There are a large number of different spa shapes. It is therefore important to identify the shape of your spa correctly among the 12 offered on our costing form. For your information, 90% of rigid spas are square or rectangular with rounded corners, i.e.shape number 2.

Here are some examples below showing the different types of shapes :

Cover dimensions

This is the most crucial step when filling out the spa cover costing form. We design the covers from the exact dimensions of the manufacturers, so it is important to indicate the make and model of your spa when asked. If you do not have the make and model information, the manufacturing plant will only use the measurements you provide.
Rest assured, an error of 1-3cm will not cause the cover to be incompatible with your spa.
However, the more precise you are, the better the cover will fit the shape of your spa.
Where to take the measurements ?
A question often comes up : Should the measurements be taken on the existing cover or on the spa ?

Please follow the following steps to measure your current spa cover correctly :
In the majority of cases we will recommend that you take the measurements on the existing cover.
Taking measurements is easy. However :
  • The current cover should not be misshapen.
  • The current cover must fit the spa perfectly, you have no trouble positioning or removing it.
Spa measurements
You will need to take the measurements directly on your spa in the following cases :
  • The current cover is completely misshapen or warped.
  • The current cover is too tight, it is difficult to move and position it on the spa.
  • The current spa cover was not the correct size for your spa.
  • You no longer have a spa cover.
Where should I take the exterior dimensions ?
On the different diagrams according to your shape, we will ask you for certain measurements. Depending on the location of the spa, we will recommend that you take a different origin.

Standard layout
The outer dimension corresponds to the length / width of the acrylic shell. We recommend that you start measuring from the outside of the rim of the acrylic shell.
Layout with rim
The spa has rims, so that the skirt can seal. We recommend that you start measuring from the outside of the rim.
The skirt will thus be able to descend correctly along the spa.
Built-in spa installation
For a built-in spa installation, we recommend that you start measuring from the outside of the acrylic shell.
Another important point, we will recommend that you choose a skirt length that matches the height of the acrylic from the floor.

Radius measurement

How to measure the radius ?
rounded corner
The radius is an important element in the measurement for all covers with rounded corners.
What is the radius ?
This is the length of the radius of a circle formed by the curvature of the corner of your spa.
radius template
Measure the radius
We provide a template that will allow you to easily identify the radius measurement.
The template can be downloaded and printed.
On this template 12 arcs of circles are shown corresponding to precise radius measurements.
You can easily identify the arc of a circle that corresponds to the roundness of your spa.
To do this, position the template on the corner of your cover or spa and drag the template until you find a match.
If you hesitate between 2 circular arcs, choose the smallest radius.
bad radius
Which radius to choose ?
Depending on the spa models, there may be two circular arcs in the corners of your hot tub.
It is essential to take the measurement of the outer circular arc.
The cover skirt goes down vertically, so it is important that it goes down to the outside of the spa.

Cover insulation

It is vital to protect your spa with a cover, whether it is located indoors or outdoors. Its main purpose is to keep your spa water at the correct temperature and keep running costs down. The insulation of the cover is without doubt the most important feature of your spa cover. It plays the most important role of your spa isothermal energy. The thicker it is, the less heat loss there will be. Boospa offers 4 types of insulation adapted to each spa installation. Standard, Premium, Premium+ and Extreme insulation will all meet your expectations.
standard insulation

Standard insulation

Standard insulation (6-10cm) is recommended for indoor spas.

Its low thickness allows it to be handled very easily. However, this insulation will not be suitable for an exterior installation, the thickness of the insulation being too low for exterior conditions.

premium insulation
Premium insulation
Premium insulation (8-12cm) is recommended for outdoor spas.
It is the most common insulation, it provides optimal insulation for an average weight. It will suit most areas with a temperate climate.
premium+ insulation
Premium+ insulation
Premium+ insulation (8-15cm) is recommended for outdoor spas subject to regular rainfall.
This insulation has an additional thickness in the middle of the cover.
This makes it possible to create a greater difference in level which will increase the flow of water.
You will therefore avoid water stagnation in the middle of the cover.
extreme insulation
Extreme insulation
Extreme insulation (10-20cm) is recommended for outdoor spas exposed to heavy snowfall.
This is the thickest insulation available, perfect to withstand harsh winter conditions.
This cover has the best isothermal energy. However, it has the worst handling due to a much higher weight than other insulations.

Cover color

The choice of the color of your cover is completely up to you. However, here are some tips on choosing the color of your spa cover :
  • A dark color like Black - 1001 or Anthracite - 1007 absorbs the sun's rays. The cover will therefore be warmer in direct sunlight than a lighter color such as Grey - 1006 or White - 1016
  • Anthracite - 1007 is the most common color
  • Charcoal Gray - 1009 is a textured vinyl, it has a thickness slightly greater than other vinyls
  • Clear vinyl will tend to fade more easily over time if the cover is not protected or maintained.

Cover fold

If your spa is a perfect square (ex: 213cm X 213cm), the position of the fold does not matter.
On the other hand, for all rectangular shapes, it is important to identify on which length/width the fold is positioned.

fold a
Fold along the length
By length, we mean the greater of the dimensions of the spa. If "A" is the greatest, the fold over "A" indicates that it is perpendicular to the length.
The fold will therefore have the same measurement as the width of the spa.
fold b
Fold along the width
The fold across the width will imply a longer fold length.
This configuration is used by people who want to easily fold up their cover.
Be careful of the adaptability of the cover lifter.

Cover skirt

The size of the skirt is up to you. The skirt should just hang over the spa in order to completely close the cover and thus avoid heat loss.
  • Be careful, for built-in spas, it will be necessary to take as a measure the height of the acrylic shell protrusion.
  • The length of the skirt starts from the end of the insulation part.
  • Most spas have a 10-12cm skirt

Safety straps

The size of the straps is also at your discretion. Our covers are all equipped with 2 X 2 safety straps located on the sides opposite the cover fold.
  • Our straps are all equipped with key locks.
  • The straps are sewn to the cover skirt, so the dimensions of the straps also incorporate the skirt length. Example : a skirt of 10cm and a strap length of 15cm will imply that the strap will protrude by 5cm.
  • On average the straps have a measurement of 15-20cm
  • Our straps include the female part as well as the screws to fix on the spa.
  • The new straps will not be positioned in the same place as the old ones.

Spa covers materials

The choice between a vinyl cover and a Weather Shield fabric cover depends on your specific needs and local weather conditions. Make sure to choose the one that best suits your spa to maximize your relaxation moments.

Vinyl Spa Cover

Spa covers made of vinyl offer several advantages:

  • Waterproofing: Vinyl is known for its ability to prevent water from penetrating, thus maintaining the cleanliness and temperature of your spa.
  • Durability: Vinyl covers are resistant to the elements, meaning they will last long, even when used outdoors.
  • UV Protection: Vinyl is often treated to resist UV rays, preventing premature fading and deterioration.
  • Thermal Insulation: Vinyl is an excellent thermal insulator, helping to maintain your spa water's heat, thereby reducing energy consumption.

Weather Shield Spa Cover

Spa covers made of Weather Shield fabric offer optimal resistance:

  • Weather Resistance: Weather Shield fabric is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, from rain to snow.
  • Maximum UV Protection: It provides ultimate UV ray protection, preserving the cover's color and quality.
  • Cover Breathing: Weather Shield is breathable, preventing condensation buildup under the cover, excellent for your spa's durability, and reducing the heavy cover effect.
  • Easy Cleaning: It's often easier to clean than other materials, saving you time and effort.
  • Exceptional Longevity: Weather Shield covers tend to last very long due to their durability and weather resistance.
  • Unmatched Lightness: This type of cover is on average 2 times lighter than a classic vinyl cover.
